About the new manga

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 4, 2011, 7:58 PM
According to monthly manga information magazine "Pafu", Arakawa-san accepted the interview and mentioned like this;

:bulletpink: "Shanghai" will start after the end of the movie and whatnot (maybe FMA)
:bulletpink: There are plans of "one-shot manga" and "short serialization".

I guess the new series of Sunday means "short serialization", but "Pafu" was sold before the official announcement of Sunday, so there is no detailed explanation about the new series like the title and the length of series.
Sunday doesn't say "short term" in the official announcement (purposely?), so I wonder if readers will accept a situation. ^^;
But there was a case the work that was originally planned as the short serialization changed to the long one by a lot of requests from readers, it's "Ushio and Tora". Then there will be also its possibility about Arakawa-san.

:below: The following is the journal on February 27th :below:

Yey! Xing, Homunculus and Ishval!

The announcement of new cast had just finished on twitter of the festival! I read it in real time.
The cast is Miyano-san (Ling), Nakamura-san (Greed), Miyake-san (Scar) and Goto-san (May) so far. :woohoo:
I hope  Ling who acts together with Ed and Al will be in the movie at least...!!
:bulletred: I'm sorry, I assumed mistakenly that the cast of festival is the same as the movie because the festival is the one for the movie. ^^;

And the festival seems to have the themes, the one in the first day is "Ed's journey", the other one in the second day is "Al's trajectory", and the festival will be the content that cast looks back the whole 64 episodes of Brotherhood with live dubbing and performance from Ed's perspective in the first day and Al's one in the second day.

:below: The following is the journal on February 25th :below:

It found the new serialization of Arakawa-san will start in "Weekly Shonen Sunday 19th issue" that will be released on April 6th.  :shocked: The information is from the advertisement of Sunday. websunday.net/sugoi/sugoi.html
The title and detail were unknown so far.

She was a reader of Shonen Sunday in her childhood, then having the serialization in Sunday might have been her dream, but I was so surprised because I have believed her new work will be in Gangan. What is going on with "Shanghai Yoma Kikai"...?? Shanghai is the work of Ganagn, and it's true she went to Taiwan for the research of Shanghai with Gangan related people. Then, I wonder if she'll draw it in Gangan, the another new work in Sunday. Or she'll draw RAIDEN-18 in weekly Sunday?
I seem that it might be difficult to realize she draw two works at the same time because Sunday is weekly magazine, but I feel she can do it with her toughness. :XD:

Anyway we must wait for more information.

Addition: I found the article about the new series at the website called "Mantan-web".
According to it, the editor of Sunday approached her and the concept emerged, then the content fits teenager-oriented and weekly serialization, and it was decided.
The managing editor seems to say "The content just fits Sunday. I'd like Arakawa-san to draw her own unique theme and characters".

By the way, I tried walking around here and there, then I reminded that Shogakkan that is the publisher of Sunday has the problem of editor's quality...there was the trouble between the publisher and  Raiku-san who is the author of "Zatch Bell!", and I read about the bad habit in the whole publisher. :X
I do hope the constitution of company will be improved, and the editor never squashes Arakawa-san.

:below: The following is the journal on February 22nd :below:

Flash report!

It found the new cast of the festival will be announced at CM of festival this weekend!!! :onfire:
Maybe the commercial will be aired within the airtime of animation program that Brotherhood was ever aired.
I'll report in this journal as soon as I know! :woohoo:

Thanks for informing us about the new informations, you are really kind!

I wonder, though: wasn't published by Square Enix? So, new chapters of it are now being published by a different editor?

Or only the completely new Hiromu Arakawa's series os going to Sunday?

I'm quite confused... ^^'

You're welcome! I'm glad to be able to share many information and topics together with everyone. :D

Well, maybe Arakawa-san needs to keep silent until the official announcement from "the proper organization" like the publisher, so I think she can't say anything about the publisher or title so far.
I guess that "Shanghai" will start in Gangan after completing the work around the movie, "short serialization" will be in Sunday and it's possible to lengthen by the requests, and there is no information about "one-shot manga".

So, if I understood well, she could work for two or more publishers at the same time?

The festival program sounds so awesome! For a fan of both the brothers like me is the definitive festival to go... too bad I won't be able to. ^^'

Well, it seems the complaint to the festival gets increased. ^^;
Its reason is that the festival date was added even though it was originally only Sunday, and the content isn't same in those two days, in addition, the first day which was added is about Ed's point of view. Everyone will feel that the festival was two days from the beginning, and naturally, people who want to join the festival would already preengage the tickets to the second day of Sunday.
I think the complaint is no mystery, and I can't help but say the host isn't kind for fan...

Do you mean that it wasn't announced that the festival was going to be two days long from the start? _

Yes, the content that the first day is about Ed seems to be unnatural for the additional performance. In sum, there are people who wonder if the first day which wasn't planned is a protagonist.
People naturally try buying tickets of Sunday because there was only one day, and they can't always go to in both days. If the content is the same in both days, maybe there won't be such a complaint. I can't understand why the host bothers to change the content even though it's easy to imagine that all people can't always go to the both days.
The complaint mainly comes from people who already bought the second day ticket, but can't go to the first day. I think that's natural. :X

Well, there was a person who asked whether it's possible to stream the festival at the theatre (or the internet). The answer was "No" at that time, but the host may consider it if the query or demand gets increased. :aww:

Well, according to Tombow, from FMA forum actually, he read it this way "Fullmetal Festival 2011, announcing the second wave of attending voice cast members! Additional attendees are: VAs of Ling (Ms. Miyano), Greed (Mr. Nakamura), Scar (Mr. Niyake), and May (Ms. Goto), total of 4 VAs." So it's a bit confusing because it sounds like they will only attending the festivity. Sorry for bothering you with too much questions. I just want confirmation before expecting something. ^^;

D': I'm glad to be peruvian.....but I want that manga magazines reach my country :tears:
We have a few weekly shounen jumps....but nothing else....and also old shounen jumps not the newest D':
Last year the newest FMA tankoubon in spanish that reached my country was the number ten... I think...and well they are pretty expensive :C (cause they come from Spain)
It's kind of difficult to be an FMA fan in Peru xp XD
Thank you for sharing your information >W< I really REALLY appreciate it ^^

We Japanese can't imagine that it's difficult to get mangas actually...because Japanese mangas are naturally created for Japanese. ^^;
There is time lag due to a distributional impact between Tokyo and the furthest prefecture or countryside, but it's a few days...or it's about a week at the longest if it's an isolate island.

In case of foreign countries, there is the matter of translation, and maybe Japanese publishers make commissioned sale to each countries...then I guess publisher side can't control the timing of sale.
And it can't be said that the support for other countries by Japanese publishers is enough...if the publishers seriously think about the illegal scanlation, they should deal with the difference of sale situation between countries...

Oh, no problem! I'm glad I can share many information with everyone. :D

Um...Arakawa-san is the type of author who neither receives media exposure with showing her appearance (even autograph-signing session) nor has the place in the internet like twitter, blog or personal home page.
I guess thoughtless trolls caused it. She actually had her home page before FMA was animated, but it seems stupid trolls insulted her when it found she was a woman and yaoi hater. They're lowest scum. :angered:
On the other hand, I think there are a lot of authors who have twitter or blog.

I don't know the situation about the translation. You mean the official translation like comics? Or it means so-called scanlation by fan?
As I recall the case of FMA, if the scanlation, the upload seems to be so early...maybe 1 or 2 days from the sale date although I don't dare to support it because of the illegality.

ah, well i don't support scanlation either, it's very wrong. i was wondering on the official translation. seeing as i'm flat broke, what i usuaslly end up doing for new manga, is sitting in the book store reading it through since i can never buy them T^T ... it sucks... but, i only support legal editions.

Wow, you have an honorable spirit! I admire you. :nod: :clap:
Honestly, I feel Japanese publishers throw things at the foreigner companies about the translation. ^^;
I don't know whether publishers order about the timing of sales, that is, it's necessary to finish translation till the sale date. Apparently, it seems the interval until the next volume isn't constant, then I don't know about the situation that isn't domestic. :no:
I am sorry that I cannot be of assistance. :X
